Young Stars Shine In Reserves Victory
Leicester City made it four Pontin's League games unbeaten as they ran out 3-0 winners against West Bromwich Albion on Monday evening.
Elvis Hammond began the game in the starting line-up, but had to be replaced after only 13 minutes by young striker Billy McKay.
Both sides had chances to break the deadlock, with Ricky Sappleton first being thwarted by the West Bromwich goalkeeper midway through the half.
Hossein Kaebi then came to City's rescue with a goal-line clearance after Baggies forward Daniel Worrall rounded Carl Pentney.
But it was Sappleton who opened the scoring on 33 minutes from the penalty spot after Billy McKay was brought down inside the box.
Andy King saw a dipping volley loop over the West Bromwich goalkeeper five minutes before half time but the effort fell the wrong side of the crossbar.
It was Sappleton who doubled City's lead on the hour. A low cross from Alan Maybury found the feet of striker who was able to turn and slot the ball home from close range.
Three minutes later the Foxes sealed victory; this time Ricky Sappleton turned provider as he thread the ball through to Ryan Beswick who was able to finish with a curling left foot shot.
Sappleton had chances to complete his hat-trick in the closing stages of the game, but was unable to find the net for a third time.
