Leicester City Reserves went down 1-0 to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Manager Gary Megson fielded a line up containing a mixture of youth and experience for the game - and again adopted the wing-back formation that has proved successful for the first team over their last four matches.

But a late goal from Potters striker Vincent Pericard against the run of play would secure the victory for the home team on the night.

Goalkeeping coach Mike Stowell said: "We had our fair share of possession in the first half and over the 90 minutes we had more than enough chances to win the game.

"We were quick out of the traps and but for an unfortunate slip by Jonny Hayes we could have taken the lead as early as the first minute of the game.

"Ricky Sappleton then had a penalty saved by Russell Hoult in the fifth minute and you just got the feeling it wasn't going to be our night.

"Billy McKay came close on a number of occasions in the second half but their goalkeeper was in inspired form.

"We worked hard but just couldn't make the breakthrough. Then we got hit by a classic sucker punch in the closing stages of the game."
