Leicester City Ladies 1-5 LCFC Women
City gave a powerful performance against their local rivals under the lights at Whetstone.
The Foxes started with pace and purpose and zipping the ball around on the green lush surface, with Natasha Meade and Rachel Williams going close for City early on.
Good work by Meade again down the flank crossing the ball into the box but the keeper touched over from a Vicky Lines effort.
The corner by Remi Allen sailed into the net to put City one up.
City then put a lovely move together by Jade Radburn, Caz Toone and Allen who split the Ladies defence for the pacey Zira Handley who just fired wide.
The Ladies put some moves together but the centre backs, Lauren Impey and Radburn, thwarted their efforts.
City went further ahead when Toone found Hannah Bennett on the edge of the box whose shot was deflected into the net.
Shortly after, a run by Williams was thwarted by the Ladies defence for a corner, with Leah Rawle delivering a great flag kick for Barrett to touch home for her second.
The second period started brightly again and City played with crisp passing with their midfield of Allen, Barrett and Williams in the forefront. It was Barrett again who instigated City's fourth when her powerful header found Meade out on the right who crossed for sub Helen Shipman to smash home.
The Ladies played with spirit and hit back with a great 35 yard lob that left keeper, Sophie Le Gros, helpless, to pull one back.
With the minutes ticking away City hit their fifth when Williams split the Ladies defence with a glorious pass to find City's other sub, Katharine Glass, to fire home, to give City a resounding win.
A special mention for City's front runner, Vicky Lines, who worked tirelessly up front and held the ball up extremely well.
