Leicester City's academy side followed their midweek FA Youth Cup heroics with a 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Foxes started brightly and could have taken the lead when Ashley Chambers flashed the ball across the penalty area to Steven Howard, but his shot blazed over the bar.

Villa took the lead after ten minutes when a cross from the right wasn't dealt with by the City defence and Barry Bennan arrived at the far post to make it 1-0.

Chambers' low drive fifteen minutes later produced a fine save from the Villa goalkeeper as Leicester struggled to get a foothold in the game.

Villa extended their lead early in the second half. A swift counter attack caught City short at the back and Bannan grabbed his second of the game from close range.

The winger was again on target five minutes later when a low shot was parried by goalkeeper Carl Pentney and Bannan was on hand to complete his hat-trick.

The game was already out of City's reach by the time a free kick from the right found James Collins unmarked to head Villa's forth in stoppage time.
