Leicester City's Under-18s' extended run in this season's FA Youth Cup came to an end against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening as they went down 3-1 in the fifth round tie.

Craig King had an opportunity to give the Foxes the lead inside the first minute after Ashley Chambers  had cut the ball back to the striker, but his close range shot was deflected wide of the post.

The Foxes did have the ball in the net on 15 minutes. A corner from the left was met by Scott Garner, however the referee had controversially already pulled play back for an infringement on the Chelsea goalkeeper.

But the home side fought their way back in to the game and took the lead on 30 minutes - Gael Kakuta danced his way into the penalty area and picked out Morten Nielsen to put the Blues 1-0 up.

Chelsea doubled their advantage in first half stoppage time. Miroslav Stoch found space down the right and flashed the ball across the six yard box where Kakuta was on hand to fire the ball into the net.

But City struck back five minutes after the break. Robbie Burns (pictured) reacted quickest to a Chambers header and found space on the edge of the box to curl the ball past the hosts' goalkeeper to give the visitors hope.

The Foxes then came within inches of an equaliser in stoppage time when a header from King crashed against the crossbar.

But from the following attack Stoch broke City hearts by poking the ball past goalkeeper Kevin O'Brien to put the blues through into the quarter-finals.

City: O'Brien, Cox, Garner, Rowe-Turner, Cobb, O'Neil, Howard, Tuttle (John 45), Burns, King, Chambers (Chamberlain 88).
