This County Cup Semi-Final was played at a great venue at Shepshed Dyanmo on a good flat playing surface.

Early pressure by City saw Rachel Williams get by the Ladies back line but her cross evaded the forwards. Moments later Williams was again in the thick of things and just fired over. Williams having just returned from a week with England U23's was in great form continuing to pressure the ladies defence throughout the first half.

The Ladies came back into the game with an attack and were awarded a free-kick but Lauren Impey cleared the danger.

Caz Toone, Leah Rawle and Courtney Sweetman-Kirk, combined well to set up Harriet Crofts but she shot straight at the keeper after a well worked move.

City then took a well deserved lead just before the interval , Rawle delivered a fine free-kick into the box, Williams' flicked header found Natasha Meade who volleyed it home for a fine goal.

Within minutes of the restart City went two up when City's young debutant, full back Cam Simpson, worked hard to keep the ball in play, swept it down the right to Williams who outpaced the Ladies full back to cut inside to hit a powerful shot from an acute angle low into the corner of the net.

The Ladies were battling hard and trying to hit the Foxes on the counter attack but skipper, keeper Laura Niblett, marshalled her back four with Jade Radburn, Impey, Rawle and the emerging talent of Simpson working tirelessly and organised keeping them at bay.

City's Sweetman-Kirk was excelling in midfield with some delightful play and it was fitting she got City's third with Williams threading the ball out right to Meade who cut the ball back from the bye-line for Sweetman-Kirk to volley in from a difficult angle.

A good solid performance by City, as they moved into the Final, where they meet Loughborough Students at Hinckley United on Wednesday 30th April.

They will, however, have to put this to one-side for the moment as they have some important league games coming up in their pursuit of the Championship.

Squad - Laura Niblett (C), Jade Radburn, Lauren Impey, Leah Rawle, Cam Simpson, Rachel Williams, Harriet Crofts, Zira Handley, Caz Toone, Natasha Meade, Courtney Sweetman-Kirk, Louise Ward.
