Ian Holloway confirmed the Foxes would be lodging an appeal to have Patrick Kisnorbo's red card overturned following his side's 3-0 defeat at the hands of Sheffield United on Saturday.

Leicester were reduced to 10-men when referee Mike Pike sent off the stand-in City skipper in the 12th minute of the contest.

And the decision turned out to be crucial - with James Beattie giving the Blades the lead after the resulting penalty had been saved by Paul Henderson.

He said: "It was exactly the same as what happened to us when we played Ipswich Town at Portman Road earlier in the season. Billy Sharp has overrun it and then fallen over, only for the referee to give them a penalty with assistance from the linesman. That's disappointing to say the least.

"I have seen it again and there is no contact between the two players. You can see clear daylight.

"I went to see the referee after the game and he has told me that he will have a look at it.

"If you had a video that was running five seconds behind the game for the fourth official to watch then I think that would be a massive benefit.

"Decisions like that are very important to people like me and also all our fans who came up to Sheffield today who sang their heads off."

Beattie then added a second and a third in a devastating seven minute spell.

Holloway added: "They got their second but I didn't think it was a free kick. I saw Steve Howard get fouled beforehand and it has taken a deflection off Gareth McAuley and skimmed in.

"I still fancied us at 2-0 down even though we had 10-men, but the third goal has killed us. I didn't like that goal because we have given James Beattie a free header six yards out.

"We have now got four games left and it is going to be a right scrap, but that is something that we already knew before today. We have got to get two wins out of four. That's all that matters."
