Leicester City have this afternoon (Tuesday) welcomed Craig Shakespeare and Steve Walsh to the club.

The duo will work alongside Manager Nigel Pearson as part of a three-man management team.

Shakespeare (44) has arrived from Premier League new boys West Bromwich Albion and will work as Assistant Manager and First Team Coach.

Walsh, meanwhile, has taken on the dual role of Assistant Manager and Head of Recruitment.

Shakespeare joined the Baggies in 1999 as a Football in the Community Officer before moving on to become youth team coach under then manager Gary Megson and subsequently reserve team  boss.

He played a major role as part of Tony Mowbray's management team in helping the club win the Coca-Cola Championship title and promotion back to the Barclays Premier League last term.

But after being released from his Baggies contract he will now link up again with former Albion assistant boss Pearson, who he worked with for almost two years at The Hawthorns.

He said: "It's all happened fairly quickly but it's been a hard decision.

"It's been hard because of my respect and my high-regard for Tony (Mowbray) as a manager and as a person.

"The same goes for the person I'm joining here in Nigel Pearson, who has also taught me a lot.

"These are two guys that I hold in high esteem.

"I've made this decision for the sake of my own career and hopefully it will turn out to be a good one.

"I now face a new challenge, which I'm really looking forward to. I can't wait to get started because I want to help Leicester and its fans get that feel good factor back."

Walsh, who was previously Chief Scout at Chelsea and Newcastle, added: "I am delighted and honoured to be here and hopefully I can draw on my experience and contacts within the game to help turn this impressive club's fortunes around after what has been a difficult few years on the field."

Pearson is delighted to have Shakespeare and Walsh on board following his arrival just over a week ago.

He added: "Craig and Steve are close friends, are experts in their own fields and are two people that I can trust.

"They are just as passionate and hungry as myself and their experience and knowledge of the game will not only assist me but the club as a whole will also benefit.

"Our aim is to gain promotion this season and their arrivals are just another part of the jigsaw which we hope to continue to build over the coming weeks."

Shakespeare, a former midfielder, signed as an apprentice at Walsall in September 1979, turning professional in November 1981.

In 1987-88 Shakespeare helped the Saddlers gain promotion to Division Two via the Play-Offs and in total played well over 350 games for them, scoring 59 goals before moving to Sheffield Wednesday in 1989.

He spent less than a year at Hillsborough before signing for West Brom for £275,000. He stayed at the Hawthorns for over three years and made 128 appearances.

Spells at Grimsby Town and Scunthorpe United followed before he announced his retirement.
