Championship draw specialists Leicester City and Wolves battled out a goalless stalemate in the Midlands derby at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.

Both sides racked up a record number of draws last term with 21 apiece and in a game of very few clear-cut chances this time around, a draw was the inevitable conclusion.

Mark de Vries came close twice in the opening half and Joey Gudjonsson forced an impressive save from Michael Oakes while Leon Clarke tested Rab Douglas.

However, neither side produced that cutting edge needed to take home all three points on the day.

The visitors were the first to show inside two minutes when Stephen Hughes let fly from 20-yards out but his effort went over the bar.

Patrick Kisnorbo headed over from Gudjonsson's cross four minutes later

Jackie McNamara was then booked for a late lunge on Nils-Eric Johansson in the eighth minute.

City continued to make the early running and Momo Sylla was only inches away from connecting with lone striker de Vries' through ball.

The Dutchman then came within inches of handing his side the lead on 13 minutes.

Sylla was the first to react to Dion Dublin's long ball before he squared to the onrushing de Vries, who directed the ball just the wrong side of the upright with Oakes beaten.

Wolves created their first real chance on 22 minutes with Joleon Lescott's header across goal, from a Lee Naylor free-kick, found Carl Cort but his header fell wide of the target.

De Vries was again in the thick of the action in the 26th minute when he turned Lescott inside the area but his shot drifted just past the post.

After a lull in play, Douglas had to be alert to gather Rob Edwards' header into the box on 36 minutes before the Scot pulled off another fine save five minutes later to deny Clarke.

The hosts almost took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Ndah cut in from the right before unleashing a thunderous left-foot shot that flew narrowly wide.

The two sides therefore went into half-time all square at 0-0.

At the start of the second half, Gudjonsson drilled his free-kick straight into the Wolves wall before Mark Kennedy shot straight at Douglas from 25-yards out.

Paddy McCarthy saw yellow for a foul on Ndah in the 55th minute then Douglas, under pressure on his own line, palmed the ball clear from the resulting free-kick.

Then at the other end, Oakes dived full length to save a Gudjonsson rocket in the 58th minute before de Vries made way for Iain Hume on the hour.

As the game suddenly livened up, Johansson was booked for a foul on Ndah a minute later.

Naylor tested Douglas from distance but the keeper was equal to the task then Clarke came off for Vio Ganea on 67 minutes.

Joe Hamill put a free-kick over the bar soon after then the home side made their second change with Mark Davies replacing Colin Cameron in the 75th minute.

Gudjonsson was booked for dissent on 77 minutes.

Wolves wasted another good chance 11 minutes from time when substitute Ganea drilled his low effort across the face of goal when clean through.

Seal came on for Ndah and Elvis Hammond relplaced Stephen Hughes in the 86th minute before Edwards went close with a bicycle-kick.

Hammond put his effort wide in stoppage time but the points were to be shared.
