Leicester City suffered their first away defeat of the campaign when they went down 2-0 to Charlton Athletic at the Valley on Saturday.
Chris Iwelumo and Luke Varney grabbed the goals on the day for the Addicks - both coming in the first half of the contest.
Gary Megson made four changes to his starting line up, bringing in Matty Fryatt, Carl Cort, Richard Stearman and James Chambers for Mark de Vries, Bruno N'Gotty, DJ Campbell and the injured James Wesolowski.
City were quickly out the blocks and came within a whisker of taking the lead in the fourth minute of the game. Stephen Clemence picked up the ball from midfield and let fly with a shot from fully 30 yards, but Nicky Weaver flung himself to his left to tip the ball onto the outside of the post and to safety.
Charlton's first effort on goal came with nine minutes on the clock - but Zheng Zhi's effort from the edge of the penalty box was easily saved by Marton Fulop in the Leicester goal.
Cort teed up Iain Hume on the edge of the opposite area on 12 minutes, but his effort was hit straight at Weaver.
The action at both ends was coming thick and fast, and it was Charlton's turn to raise the volume a minute later. Lloyd Sam cut in from the right and fired off a powerful shot, but his effort hit the side netting.
The home side took the lead on 18 minutes - Iwelumo bundling the ball home from close range following a long Danny Mills throw into the danger zone.
City came close to redressing the balance three minutes later - but Gareth McAuley's header from an Alan Sheehan free-kick fell just wide of the mark.
Varney doubled the home side's advantage on 23 minutes following a mix up in the City defence - the former Quorn striker smashing the ball home unchallenged from close range.
Iwelumo almost grabbed his second of the day on the half-hour mark, but his header from a Mills centre drifted just wide.
Fryatt burst through the middle and fired off a powerful shot from 12 yards on 34 minutes - but Weaver was up to the task.
Leicester almost grabbed a goal back three minutes before the break, but Patrick Kisnorbo's header from an Iain Hume corner fell just wide of the target.
Megson rang the changes at half-time - bringing on former Charlton favourite Radostin Kishishev and Bruno N'Gotty for Alan Sheehan and Iain Hume.
And Kishishev almost made an instant impact at his former stomping ground - forcing a good save from Weaver with a 25-yard drive.
Megson made his third and final change of the afternoon just after the hour mark - replacing Fryatt with DJ Campbell.
Varney tested Fulop from the edge of the 18-yard area on 73 minutes, but the Hungarian international was able to make an easy save.
The home side made three changes in the closing stages - Sam Sodje, Izale McLeod and Darren Ambrose entering the action.
The defences were on top for the closing stages - with neither side having a chance of note during the final 15 minutes of the game.
City now face a mouth-watering Carling Cup tie against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Wednesday night.
