DJ Campbell's second goal inside a week and his fourth of the season secured Leicester City a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Preston North End at Deepdale on Tuesday evening.
The in-form striker's second half header cancelled out Andy Carroll's early opener and as the game progressed, City could have easily have come away with all three points.
Matty Fryatt, substitute Carl Cort and James Chambers all had good chances to complete the visitors' gritty comeback.
However, it was just not to be but the point apiece did extend City's unbeaten Championship run to three games.
Patrick Kisnorbo headed clear from Chris Sedgwick's right wing cross inside two minutes.
However, Fryatt came within a whisker of opening the scoring for the visitors a minute later.
Bruno N'Gotty played in Fryatt through the middle, he spun his man before unleashing a fierce effort from the edge of the area which Andy Lonergan tipped over the bar for a corner.
Kisnorbo again had to be alert to head Sedgwick's dangerous cross behind for a flag-kick in the 10th minute.
Andy Carroll was booked for a foul from behind on Campbell two minutes later.
Brett Ormerod just failed to latch on to Carroll's cushioned header soon after but the home side did take the lead in the 14th minute.
Kevin Nicholl's teasing free-kick from the left was glanced on by Carroll and he saw his header cannon off the inside of the far post and into the back of the net for the opener.
Marton Fulop got down well to save from Youl Mawene's header on 24 minutes then Paul McKenna saw his shot blocked by James Chambers, with the ball flying out for another Preston corner.
At the other end, Lonergan dashed off his line to thwart Fryatt in the 29th minute then the injured Gareth McAuley made way for fit-again Andy King on 36 minutes, with Darren Kenton switching from centre midfield to centre-back.
Sean St Ledger blocked Collins John's shot in the 42nd minute then a surging run down the right flank by Kenton was only hacked clear by Mawene moments later.
Lonergan saved from John's long range effort two minutes before the interval and the Lilywhites No.1 ensured his side went into the break a goal to the good when he pulled off a fine save to deny Fryatt in stoppage time.
John flicked on a long ball forward and it fell nicely for the former Walsall man, whose volley looked destined for the top corner, only for Lonergan to back-track and tip the ball over the bar for a corner.
Former Fox Callum Davidson replaced Billy Jones at the start of the second half.
City started brightly after the break with Campbell saw his right-wing cross blocked by McKenna in the 50th minute.
Nicholls found the roof of the net a minute later with a high up and under which Fulop tracked all the way.
Lonergan saved well from Fryatt on 54 minutes before Carl Cort replaced John three minutes later as the visitors looked for a leveller.
And it paid immediate dividends when the Foxes equalised in the 59th minute.
Fryatt did well on the edge of the area before unleashing a shot from 20-yards.
Lonergan could only parry the effort and Campbell was on hand to rise high above the challenging defender and head home from close range for the leveller in front of the travelling Blue Army.
Fulop saved comfortably from Simon Whaley soon after while Cort just failed to connect with Alan Sheehan's inswinging cross from the left on 70 minutes.
Kenton crowded out McKenna on the edge of the area moments later
Patrick Agyemang came on for Ormerod in the 74th minute before Campbell played in Cort, but the tall striker blazed his effort over the bar.
Fulop bravely denied St Ledger on 76 minutes and picked up a blow to the head for his troubles, but after some treatment was fit to continue.
Shaun Newton replaced Campbell in the 78th minute before Carroll headed tamely wide on 84 minutes.
City almost snatched it late on when Lonergan saved Cort's attempted effort before James Chambers' follow-up shot was on target but St Ledger was on hand to coolly control the ball on the line, and clear the danger.
Kisnorbo was cautioned on 88 minutes before Cort had a goal disallowed in stoppage time for offside.
But the points were shared at the final whistle.
