The Burnley hoodoo struck again at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Leicester City narrowly went down 1-0.

The Foxes have now failed to score in any of their five games against the Clarets at their new home.

Striker Andy Gray's 23rd minute effort proved to be the difference between the two Championship sides this time around with chances few and far between for the home side.

Only Matty Fryatt, Gareth McAuley and DJ Campbell came close for City, who failed to replicate their recent good form on their travels.

Managerless Burnley were quick out of the blocks and earned a corner within 20 seconds but from the resulting flag-kick, the hosts were awarded a free-kick for a foul on Patrick Kisnorbo.

McAuley headed wide from a Joe Mattock free-kick on three minutes before Andy Gray was crowded out at the other end moments later.

A fine run and cross by Wade Elliott in the seventh minute forced McAuley to turn the ball behind for a corner but from the set-piece, the advancing Clarke Carlisle shot wide.

Marton Fulop and McAuley combined in the 13th minute to thwart Andy Gray after he latched on to a clever through ball by Robbie Blake.

John Spicer was booked for a very late tackle on the returning Stephen Clemence on 16 minutes then a jinking run from Darren Kenton was only stopped inside the six-yard box by Chris McCann.

Campbell was cautioned for unsporting behaviour in the 22nd minute before the visitors took the lead a minute later.

After Fulop had initially saved McCann's header with his feet, from the next phase of play, Gray turned Patrick Kisnorbo inside the area before driving a low shot past the Hungarian international and into the back of the net for the opener.

Matty Fryatt's deflected shot was comfortably gathered by Gabor Kiraly on the half-hour then the same player headed well wide from Kenton's free-kick in the 38th minute.

The Clarets made an enforced change on 41 minutes with the injured Stephen Jordan making way for Alan Mahon.

Kyle Lafferty was booked for a foul on Kenton then Carl Cort saw his header easily collected by Kiraly as the first half drew to a close.

Clemence shot over the bar in stoppage time but it was the visitors who went into the break with a one goal advantage.

James Wesolowski replaced Kenton on 55 minutes then a minute later Collins John came on for the injured Cort.

Elliott was cautioned for a foul on Mattock in the 58th minute before Kisnorbo headed wide from Clemence's free-kick.

Iain Hume, back after a thigh injury, came on for Bruno N'Gotty on the hour as the home side pushed for a leveller.

Mahon was booked on 63 minutes then Graham Alexander followed suit a minute later.

Kiraly saved well from McAuley soon after before Mahon saw his shot turned behind by Fulop for a corner in the 66th minute.

James O'Connor replaced Spicer on 70 minutes.

Two successive corners lifted the Blue Army but the visitors stood firm then Lafferty shot straight at Fulop after good work down the middle by Robbie Blake.

Campbell shot wide in the 74th minute before former Fox Ade Akinibiyi came on for Lafferty a minute later.

Clemence again put his effort over the bar on 77 minutes then McAuley saw his header come off Harley and go behind for a corner in the 81st minute.

City continued to push forward as the minutes ticked away but to no avail as it was the Clarets who came away with all three points.
