Leicester City twice hit the woodwork in an improved second half display but had to settle for a goalless draw against Cardiff at the Walkers Stadium on Monday evening.
Strike partners Iain Hume and Matty Fryatt both rattled the post in the second half while a fine save by on-loan Kasper Schmeichel from Richard Stearman frustrated the home side in front of the live Sky cameras.
Substitute Peter Whittingham grazed the crossbar for the visitors but the draw was enough to preserve Ian Holloway's unbeaten record as Foxes boss.
The Bluebirds created the first opening of the game on five minutes.
Gavin Rae did well down the right flank before pulling the ball back for Joe Ledley, but Shaun Newton arrived in the nick of time to put the ball behind for a corner.
At the other end, Fryatt saw his shot from the edge of the area blocked by visiting skipper Darren Purse.
A fine run by Newton ended with Joe Mattock putting the ball across the face of goal, but it was just behind the advancing Fryatt.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink drove well wide in the 13th minute before Newton's glancing header from Alan Sheehan's pinpoint cross failed to find the target.
Paul Parry just failed to latch on to Ledley's cross on 18 minutes then Stephen Clemence was booked for a pull on Stephen McPhail a minute later.
Schmeichel, on loan from Man City, kept his side level on 21 minutes when he brilliantly saved at point blank range from Stearman after Sheehan's free-kick had been flicked on by Iain Hume.
Joe Mattock was then booked for a foul on Parry in the left hand corner.
Hasselbaink's pile-driver flew narrowly over in the 27th minute with Marton Fulop beaten while Clemence headed just over from Sheehan's deflected cross from the left side on 35 minutes.
Patrick Kisnorbo cut out Hasselbaink's dangerous cross a minute later.
Mattock almost put the hosts ahead on 39 minutes but his long range drive from 35-yards out flew agonisingly over the bar.
That was to be the last meaningful action of the half as the game remained goalless at the interval.
For the start of the second half Jonathan Hayes replaced Mattock and Peter Whittingham came on for Parry.
And Whittingham almost made an immediate impact when his shot from 25-yards beat Fulop but grazed the top of the City bar and flew behind for a goal-kick.
England Youth international Ashley Chambers came on for his league debut on 55 minutes when he replaced Newton.
Rae fired over from close range on the hour after a neat one-two with Hasselbaink before Sheehan was cautioned for a foul on Gunter a minute later.
James Wesolowski made way for Andy King in the 63rd minute as the home side pushed for an opener.
Whittingham's free-kick was deflected behind off King for a corner before Fulop got down well to save from Steve Thompson on 67 minutes.
Hume came within inches of opening the scoring two minutes later when the Canadian international's shot came back off the post, hit Schmeichel and went behind for a corner much to the home fans' frustration.
Fryatt hit the post with a glancing header in the 74th minute before Glen Loovens headed over his own bar for another flag-kick as the home side upped the pressure and tempo.
Steve MacLean replaced Hasselbaink on 79 minutes then Sheehan came close with a free-kick five minutes from time.
Fryatt tried his best from 30-yards in stoppage time but the ball sailed over the bar.
City rallied late on but to no avail and the points were shared.
