Leicester City put a turbulent week behind them to record a hard-earned point against Plymouth Argyle at Home Park on Saturday afternoon.
In a game of few clear-cut chances only Gareth McAuley, Bruno N'Gotty, DJ Campbell and the fit-again Carl Cort came close for the visitors.
While at the other end the Foxes defended resolutely as a unit with Marton Fulop denying the Pilgrims on several occasions.
But the visitors will have been reasonably satisfied with a point at one of their Championship bogey grounds.
After James Wesolowski had been harshly penalised for handball 25-yards from goal, Fulop did well to pluck Peter Halmosi's goal-bound free-kick out of the air on three minutes.
At the other end, Iain Hume's dangerous cross proved just too strong for Mark de Vries in the sixth minute.
A last ditch tackle from a covering N'Gotty thwarted David Norris after the midfielder latched on to a clever reverse ball by Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
On nine minutes, Alan Sheehan saw his effort from the edge of the box charged down by Norris.
The Foxes came close in the 12th minute when Patrick Kisnorbo headed narrowly wide from Sheehan's corner.
It was end to end at this point and Fulop had to be alert to save from Ebanks-Blake's shot on the turn two minutes later.
The Hungarian keeper was again called into action on 16 minutes when he denied Halmosi with his legs, with the ball flying out for a corner.
Former Fox Lilian Nalis fired well wide from the edge of the area in the 20th minute then Marcel Seip crowded out de Vries, with the Dutch striker about to pull the trigger.
Campbell's jinking run into the box from the left flank was only stopped by a tackle from Krisztian Timar on 26 minutes.
The visitors came close to opening the scoring a minute later when Bruno N'Gotty's low drive from 30-yards beat Luke McCormick in the Pilgrims goal but flew the wrong side of the left-hand upright.
Akos Buszaky fired his free-kick high over the City goal on the half-hour before Paul Connolly shot off target after picking up Halmosi's short corner in the 35th minute.
Joe Mattock was cautioned for a challenge on Buszaky a minute later.
Kisnorbo and McAuley combined well to deny a clean-through Ebanks-Blake on 39 minutes.
The visitors almost took the lead two minutes before the break but Campbell saw his snap-shot diverted behind by Timar for a corner.
That was to be the last meaningful action of the first half as the game remained goalless at the interval.
The visitors made a change on 51 minutes with Cort and Levi Porter replacing de Vries and Mattock, with Sheehan moving to left back.
McAuley blocked Ebanks-Blake's shot in the 55th minute before City came close again on 57 minutes.
After Hume had been fouled on the right flank, Porter delivered a teasing ball into the box but McAuley could only direct his header on to the roof of the net with McCormick beaten.
A minute later Fulop parried Buszaky's long range shot before getting up quickly to gather Barry Hayles' follow-up attempt.
Kisnorbo thwarted Nalis on 65 minutes, throwing his body on the line to deny the Frenchman.
Cort flicked Hume's free-kick wide before Radostin Kishishev replaced Campbell in the 68th minute as the visitors continued in search of an opener.
Kishishev had a goal ruled out for offside in the 70th minute then Lee Hodges came on for Gary Sawyer a minute later.
McCormick raced off his line to gather just in front of Cort after Hume's neat flick-on before Hume drove wide on 72 minutes.
Four minutes later Nalis made way for Nadjim Abdou then Kisnorbo was cautioned for a foul on Buszaky on 80 minutes.
In the 86th minute Rory Fallon came on for Hayles but it remained goalless at the full-time whistle.
