Leicester City were still left chasing those elusive back-to-back victories this term after sliding to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at the hands of promotion-chasing Hull at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Foxes attracted their highest attendance of the season - 30,374 - but the Blue Army went home unhappy after goals from Dean Marney and substitute Caleb Folan secured the Tigers all three points.

Ian Holloway's men created very little in front of goal whilst at the other end Paul Henderson performed heroics with three top-class saves and a second-half penalty save from Marney.

Matty Fryatt just failed to latch on to Andy Dawson's back-header inside two minutes but Boaz Myhill raced off his line to gather the loose ball.

At the other end, veteran Dean Windass curled his free-kick from 25-yards over the bar for a goal-kick.

A brilliant run from Barry Hayles on six minutes resulted in the frontman squaring the ball from the left-hand by-line with Dawson being forced to concede a corner with Fryatt lurking.

Richard Stearman headed goal-wards from Patrick Kisnorbo's deep free-kick on 10 minutes before Fraizer Campbell came close four minutes later.

The Man Utd loan ranger pounced on a long ball into the Foxes area but Gaz McAuley did enough to prevent the striker from finding the target.

Richard Garcia fired high and wide in the 22nd minute before Lee Hendrie shot over two minutes later after he had latched on to Hayles' pull-back.

Paul Henderson was called into action on 28 minutes when he got down well at his near post to palm away Neil Clement's dipping free-kick.

The Australian international was at it again four minutes later when he brilliantly saved Windass' snap-shot from 10-yards.

Garcia was then booked for a foul on the returning Jamie Clapham in the 33rd minute right on the edge of the area.

The hosts were handed a let-off on 38 minutes when Henrik Pederson capitalised on a goal-mouth scramble but one of the many City bodies managed to block his effort before Hendrie hacked the bouncing ball clear.

Pedersen shot over moments later but the Tigers did take the lead in first-half stoppage time.

Campbell pulled the ball back from the right-hand by-line and Marney was the first to react, firing the ball into the back of the net past Henderson for the opener.

Kisnorbo was then cautioned for a foul on Campbell on the edge of the area and from the resulting set-piece, Henderson again pushed Dawson's effort around the post for a corner.

There was no time to take the flag-kick but the visitors had still done enough to go in to the break a goal to the good.

The hosts made a change at the start of the second half with Kelvin Etuhu replacing Bruno N'Gotty.

Hull then made a change of their own on 52 minutes with captain Ian Ashbee making way for Simon Walton.

Sam Ricketts' last-ditch block thwarted Fryatt a minute later before Steve Howard headed inches wide from Hendrie's corner.

Henderson denied Neil Clement in the 58th minute with a sharp save from his pile-driver before Stearman tackled a free-flowing Campbell on the edge of the area.

Howard shot wide on 63 minutes before the visitors were awarded a penalty on 65 minutes when Henderson was adjudged to have brought down Campbell in the area.

Henderson was immediately cautioned while McAuley and Hendrie also saw yellow for protesting.

However, the Australian made amends a minute later when he guessed correctly and saved Marney's spot-kick much to the delight of the partisan crowd, McAuley clearing the second ball.

Stearman was booked for a foul on Campbell on 71 minutes then the injured striker made way for Folan two minutes later.

The Foxes made a double change on 74 minutes with DJ Campbell and Joe Mattock replacing Fryatt and Clapham.

Hull doubled their lead in the 77th minute when Folan beat the offside trap and slid the ball past the advancing Henderson for his side's second.

Garcia made way for Ryan France on 80 minutes then Myhill was booked for unsporting behaviour in stoppage time.

Myhill saved from Hendrie with the last kick of the game but it was too little, too late.
