Jamie Clapham completed a short-term move to the Walkers Stadium on January 2008 transfer deadline day - becoming Ian Holloway's seventh signing of the window in the process.

Upon completing the signing of the 32-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves left-back, Holloway said: "Jamie is a player who I have had before. I borrowed him a fair few years ago when I was at Bristol Rovers and he was a youngster at Tottenham. He did very well for me then and helped us stay up.

"He is now a senior professional who knows what he is doing.

"We have got two relatively inexperienced left-backs at the club and I think it is difficult for them considering where we are in the table.

"I have been very up front with Jamie. He wants to earn a longer contract and he has got now until the end of the season to do that."

Clapham signed for Wolves on a free transfer from Birmingham City in the summer of 2006 on a two-year deal.

He played 26 league games during 2006/07 before playing a part in the Black Country side's 2-1 Carling Cup victory over Bradford at the start of this term.

However, days later, he teamed up with Leeds United on a short-term loan deal and remained there for three months.

He played 15 games for United, his last being the 2-1 win over Swindon in November.

Clapham then returned to Wolves but has since failed to force his way in to Mick McCarthy's Play-Off chasing side.

The defender came through the youth ranks at Tottenham Hotspur but he was to make just one appearance for the north London side - a 2-1 defeat to Coventry City on May 11, 1997.

Prior to that single game, he had had loan spells at Leyton Orient and Bristol Rovers then the following season saw him loaned out to Ipswich Town for two months - the move then becoming permanent for a fee of £300,000.

He made a total of 175 full and 20 substitute appearances for Ipswich and scored eight goals, and in 1999 was voted Ipswich's Player-of-the-Year.

Clapham also tasted European action with the club, playing 12 games in the UEFA Cup in two successive campaigns (2002/02 and 2002/03).

He made 250 appearances for the 'Tractor Boys' before a £1.3million fee saw him move to Premier League Birmingham in January, 2003.

Over three seasons, he played 84 games, scoring once against Manchester United.

Despite interest from several other clubs, Clapham opted to sign for Wolves in August 2006.

The left-back made his full debut in the opening day of the season draw at Plymouth.
